What is the Cancun Underwater Museum (MUSA)?
MUSA (Museo Subacuático de Arte) is an underwater museum created to promote reef conservation. This massive underwater gallery showcases more than 400 statues made from pH-neutral materials that help coral thrive and provide shelter for marine life.
The museum is divided into two main galleries: Manchones (for divers) and Nizuc (for snorkelers). As a certified diver, you’ll have access to the deeper Manchones gallery, located 8-10 meters (26-33 feet) beneath the surface.
The Underwater Museum of Art (MUSA), one of the most successful conservation projects in the world, has quickly become one of Cancun’s top attractions.
The project was launched in 2009 and had the goal to create an artificial reef and help the marine life restoration in the Cancun and Isla Mujeres area.
MUSA scuba diving will make your Cancun scuba vacation one of a kind.
You can see the positive effects of this multilateral effort since some of the first parts of the museum have already been overrun by reef formations and distorting some of the original pieces.
These new reefs are now home to a variety of marine wildlife; you will be able to dive with all kinds of reef fish and enjoy this pleasant experience.
